the HSCIC Cyber Security Programme and how to get involved.
What is Cyber Security?
Cyber security is the management and application of Information Security standards. This applies to computers,
computer networks, and the data stored and transmitted. It can also cover physical security.
The HSCIC Cyber Security Programme (CSP)
The CSP is delivering a number of projects:
Cyber security education and awareness - through training, events and guidance material for the health and social
Health and Care Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) course - for a small number of security staff
across the system in the first instance, as a pilot for a wider roll-out
An e-Learning platform.
Enhancing HSCIC’s existing cyber security capabilities - as a trusted centre of cyber security expertise
The Cyber Security Programme (CSP) was established and funded under a mandate from the HSCIC Board. CSP has since been
expanded and supported by additional funds allocated by the Cabinet Office’s National Cyber Security Programme (NCSP)
following a bid made jointly by HSCIC and the Department of Health.
