The CCG Authorisation: Draft Applicants’ Guide has now been published and can be viewed at http://www.commissioningboard.nhs.uk/files/2012/04/board-2-ccg-auth.pdf.

Page 29 of the guide makes reference to the evidence required for authorisation - that the "CCG has used the NHS Information Governance toolkit to assess its capability to meet information governance requirements".

For assistance with registration, CCGs should send a request to the Exeter Service Desk exeter.helpdesk@nhs.net.

The request should be marked for attention of IGTK 3rd line and should contain the following information:

• The name of the CCG;
• The full address of the CCG including postcode;
• The name and contact details (email address and phone number) of the CCG staff member to be registered.

The team will assist with registration and offer advice on assessment completion and publication, if required.

The new annual release of the IG Toolkit (version 10) is scheduled for May 2012, and CCGs may wish to wait for the new release before completing and publishing an assessment in support of the authorisation process.
